Job Details

Bihar Staff Selection Commission will conduct the 2nd Inter Level Combined Competitive Examination to fill Inter (10+2) level posts (largely Level‑2 pay matrix) across multiple Bihar state departments/offices. The recruitment includes a Preliminary examination followed by a Main examination and document verification. Duties are clerical/administrative support, record keeping and related office work as per post and department.

  • Pay matrix: Posts are primarily in 7th CPC Bihar Pay Matrix Level‑2; post-wise pay level is given against each entry in the vacancy table.

Cut Off Marks

1. Minimum qualifying marks (written):
General 40%, Backward Class 36.5%, Extremely Backward Class 34%, SC/ST 32%, Women (all categories) 32%, PwBD 32%.

How to Apply

1. Submission mode:
Apply online at https://bssc.bihar.gov.in only; offline applications are not accepted.
2. Registration & fee payment:
Complete registration and pay the exam fee between 15.10.2025 and 25.11.2025 via the online payment gateway.
3. Final submission:
Submit the completed application form online by 27.11.2025 (11:59 PM, Server Time).
4. Prior applicants:
Applicants who already applied under Advertisement 02/23 need not apply again; their earlier applications will be considered for 02/23 (A).
5. Preview before submit:
Use the Preview option to verify details; after final submit, corrections are not allowed.

Exam Pattern

1. Exam stages:
Preliminary Examination followed by Main Examination; both may be held in CBT or offline mode.
2. Prelims paper:
Single paper comprising General Studies, General Science & Mathematics, and Comprehension/Logic/Reasoning/Mental Ability.
3. Questions/marks:
150 questions; 4 marks for each correct answer; 1 mark negative marking for each wrong answer.
4. Duration & language:
2 hours 15 minutes; questions will be in Hindi/English.
5. OMR/CBT conduct:
As per Commission’s decision, exams may be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) or offline mode.

Syllabus Details

1. General Studies:
Current events, national/international awards, Indian languages and literature, books, polity, economy, sports, important events, etc.; Indian and Bihar-centric topics.
2. General Science & Mathematics:
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography (basic level); arithmetic, algebra, geometry, percentage, ratio, averages, profit & loss, etc.
3. Reasoning/Mental Ability:
Analytical and verbal/non-verbal reasoning, analogy, classification, space visualization, problem solving, decision making, visual memory, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and computation, coding-decoding, etc.

Selection Process

1. Process:
Preliminary examination → Main examination → Document verification.
2. Qualifying requirement:
Candidates must obtain the prescribed minimum qualifying percentage (category-wise) to be considered.

Reservation Details

1. Women reservation:
35% horizontal reservation for women domiciled in Bihar across all categories.
2. EWS reservation:
10% reservation for Economically Weaker Sections as per prevailing Bihar Government orders.
3. PwBD reservation:
Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities as per the 2016 Act and Bihar Government circulars; eligible categories include VI, DD, OH and MD/Multi.
4. Domicile condition for reservation:
Only Bihar domiciles can claim category-wise reservation benefits; outsiders cannot claim Bihar reservation.

Document Requirements

1. Educational proof:
Matriculation/10th certificate for date of birth, and Intermediate (10+2) certificate/mark sheet.
2. Computer/typing (if required):
Certificates/mark sheets for computer knowledge/typing where applicable to the post.
3. Residence/domicile:
Permanent/Residential (Domicile) certificate (for reservation claims).
4. Caste/EWS:
Valid caste certificate/non-creamy layer certificate or EWS certificate, as applicable.
5. Freedom fighter dependent (if applicable):
Relevant certificate as per rules.
6. PwBD:
Disability certificate issued by competent authority (Civil Surgeon/CMO etc.).
7. Ex-servicemen (if applicable):
Relevant service/discharge certificates as per rules.
8. Contract/experience (if applicable):
Certificates and work-experience proof for contractual service where relaxation/weightage is claimed.
9. Age relaxation proof:
Certificates supporting age relaxation claims (category/service etc.).

Preparation Tips

Important Instructions

1. Mode of application:
Only online applications submitted on the Commission’s website will be accepted; applications sent by any other mode will be rejected.
2. Payment caution:
Unsuccessful/failed transactions will not be treated as fee paid; candidates must ensure successful payment within the stipulated dates.
3. Single application:
Only one application per candidate is permitted; multiple applications may lead to rejection.
4. Keep credentials:

Disqualification Criteria

1. False information/documents:
Supplying false/wrong/forged information or documents will lead to cancellation of candidature and legal action.
2. Improper conduct:
Any malpractice, impersonation, or violation of instructions during examination will invite cancellation and penal action.
