Job Details
The Ship Surveyor-cum-Deputy Director General (Technical) will handle technical scrutiny and approvals related to ship safety and construction, including: Trim & Stability, Damage Stability, Grain Stability, Tonnage computations and plans (including Suez and Panama Canal tonnage), crew accommodation plans, loading operations and cargo securing manuals, structural fire protection, ventilation and piping plans, load line documents and freeboard computations, and lifesaving appliance prototypes (lifeboats, rescue boats, life rafts). The role includes ISM audits of Indian ships and companies; examination and monitoring of SAFCON, Load Line and CAS surveys, including review of CAS survey reports; inspections, tests and trials of lifesaving appliance prototypes; and examination of materials approvals (insulation, paneling, flooring, fire class doors). It also covers monitoring and analysis of Port State Control (PSC) and Flag State Implementation (FSI) inspections by MMDs, maintaining PSC/FSI databases, investigating detentions of Indian ships under PSC/FSI and initiating follow-up with companies and authorities. Place of duty: Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai and Mercantile Marine Departments (anywhere in India).

- Service requirement: Officers holding analogous posts on regular basis or with five years’ regular service in Level-11 (Rs. 67700–208700) in the pay matrix or equivalent in the parent cadre/department.

- 5. Verification certificate:
- Certificate that particulars furnished by the candidate have been verified and found correct as per service records.
