Job Details

SSC will conduct the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026 to recruit LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ in various Ministries/Departments/Offices of the Government of India and various Constitutional/Statutory Bodies/Tribunals. Selection is through a two-tier Computer Based Examination followed by a qualifying Skill/Typing Test and document verification by User Departments.

2. Data Entry Operator (DEO)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational qualification: 12th Standard pass or equivalent from a recognized Board/University (except departments mentioned at Para 8.1).

Age Limitations:

  • Age: 18–27 years as on 01-08-2026 with relaxations as per rules (Para 5).

3. Data Entry Operator, Grade ‘A’

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational qualification: 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent for specified departments (Para 8.1).

  • Age: 18–27 years as on 01-08-2026 with relaxations as per rules (Para 5).

3. Aadhaar Based Authentication:
Candidates are advised to opt for Aadhaar Based Authentication during OTR/application (Para 9.3).
4. Deadlines:
Submit application by 07-10-2026 (23:00 Hours); fee payment by 08-10-2026 (23:00 Hours); correction window 14-10-2026 to 16-10-2026 (23:00 Hours).

Exam Pattern

1. Tier-I (CBE):
4 Parts – English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness; 25 questions/50 marks each part; total 100 questions/200 marks; 60 minutes with 15-minute sectional timers; negative marking 0.50 per wrong answer (Para 13.8).
2. Tier-II Session-I (CBE):
Section-I (Mathematical Abilities – 30 Q; Reasoning & General Intelligence – 30 Q) and Section-II (English Language & Comprehension – 40 Q; General Awareness – 20 Q); each question carries 3 marks; negative marking 1 mark per wrong answer; 1 hour each for Section-I and Section-II with sectional timers (Para 13.9).
3. Tier-II Section-III:
Computer Knowledge Test – 15 questions, 45 marks, 15 minutes; qualifying in nature (Para 13.9.13 & table).
4. Tier-II Session-II (Section-IV):
Skill Test/Typing Test – Part A (DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ in specified depts: 15000 KDPH, 15 min); Part B (other DEO: 8000 KDPH, 15 min); Part C (LDC/JSA Typing: 35 wpm English or 30 wpm Hindi, 10 min). Qualifying in nature (Para 13.9.13).
5. Medium of questions:
Questions set in English, Hindi and any opted language (as per Annexure-XV) except English Language & Comprehension module (Para 13.9.10, 13.8.1).

Syllabus Details

1. Tier-I – English Language:
Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Antonyms, Spelling, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Voice, Narration, Cloze Passage, Comprehension (Para 13.10.1).
2. Tier-I – General Intelligence:
Verbal & non-verbal reasoning including Analogy, Classification, Series, Coding-decoding, Venn Diagrams, Figural patterns, Embedded figures, etc. (Para 13.10.2).
3. Tier-I – Quantitative Aptitude:
Number Systems, Percentages, Ratio & Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss, Discount, T&D, T&W, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Statistical charts (Para 13.10.3).
4. Tier-I – General Awareness:
Current events; India & neighbours – History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy, Scientific Research (Para 13.10.4).
5. Tier-II – Additional:
Includes Statistics & Probability; Computer Basics (Windows/MS Office), Internet & e-mail, Basics of networking and cyber security (Paras 13.11.1–13.11.5).

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting:
Candidates are shortlisted for Tier-II based on Tier-I performance; normalized scores may be used (Para 13.2 & 17.2).
2. Final merit:
Merit list (FRTA/Final Selection) is based on aggregate marks in Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II only, subject to qualifying Section-III and Section-IV (Para 17.9–17.11).
3. Preference of posts:
Post and department preferences to be submitted online before FRTA/Result; options once submitted are final (Paras 15 & 17.7–17.8).
4. Document Verification:
DV is conducted by User Ministries/Departments/Organizations after final result (Paras 8.6 & 16).

Admit Card Details

1. Issue of Admission Certificates:
Admission Certificates will be issued online; facility to download will be available 2–3 days before the examination (Paras 14.3 & 14.6).
2. Exam city information:
Time table and City of examination will be uploaded about 10 days before the exam (Para 14.4).
3. Documents to carry:
Printout of AC, two passport size recent colour photographs, and original valid Photo-ID with DOB; additional original document if DOB not on Photo-ID (Paras 14.6–14.8).

Reservation Details

1. Reservation:
Applicable for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ESM/PwBD as determined by the Indenting Ministries/Departments (Para 3).
2. PwBD identification:
Suitability of posts for benchmark disabilities as per Notification No. 38-16/2020-DD-III dated 04.01.2021 (Para 3.3).
3. Crucial date for claim:
Crucial date for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/ESM status and other benefits is the closing date for receipt of online applications (Para 6.4).
4. OBC/EWS certificates:
OBC candidates must not fall in creamy layer on the closing date; EWS certificate must be valid for FY 2026-2027 based on income for FY 2025-2026 (Paras 6.5–6.7).

Document Requirements

1. At examination:
AC, two passport size photos and original valid Photo-ID with DOB; additional document if DOB not on ID (Paras 14.6–14.8).
2. For DV:
Matriculation certificate, Educational Qualification certificate, caste/category/PwBD/ESM certificates (as applicable), NOC (if employed), and other documents listed at Para 16.5.

Important Instructions

1. One application rule:
Only one online application is allowed during normal application period; multiple applications will lead to cancellation and debarment (Para 24(j)).
2. Photograph/signature norms:
Live photograph capture without cap/spectacles required; blurred/miniature signatures will be rejected (Paras 9.5–9.6 & Annexure-V).
3. Aadhaar Authentication:
Aadhaar Based Authentication is implemented; candidates opting for it get specified relaxations in photo/signature standards (Paras 9.3, 9.5–9.6, 24(d)).
4. AISL:
All posts carry All India Service Liability (AISL) (Paras 17.18 & 24(u)).

1. Training/Tests during probation:
During the two-year probation, candidates may be required to undergo prescribed training or pass examinations (Para 17.17).
