Additional Information

  • Training duration: Apprenticeship training period is one year as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
  • Rank list validity: Rank lists shall be maintained for all posts and shall be operated for up to 18 months from the date of reporting of last candidate advised to join, unless a fresh notification is issued.
  • Seat variation: Number of seats is based on existing requirement and may vary; arising seats during rank list validity will be filled from the rank list.

How to Apply

1. Application mode:
Apply online only via www.cochinshipyard.in (Career > CSL (Kochi) > E-Recruitment – Trainees/Apprentices).
2. Registration process:
Complete one-time registration in CSL SAP E-recruitment portal and then submit application against the applicable Trade/Vocation; submit only one application.
3. Documents to upload:
Upload certificates for proof of age, educational qualification, caste, disability (if any) and a recent passport-size colour photograph; failing which candidature will be rejected.
4. Data accuracy:
Ensure all entries are correct; no changes allowed after final submission. Garbage/junk details can lead to rejection.
5. Retain application copy:
Keep a soft copy/printout of the online application containing the unique registration number for reference.
6. Last-day support note:
Those applying on the last date may not get troubleshooting/technical support in the portal by email/phone after 1600 hrs on 08.10.2026.

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting:
Based on percentage of marks in the prescribed qualification applicable to the respective trade.
2. Tie-breaker:
If same percentage of marks is secured, relative merit will be decided based on seniority in age.
3. Intimation:
Shortlisted candidates will be informed through the registered email ID and must appear for certificate verification.
4. Certificate verification:
Candidates must produce the signed printout of the online application, original certificates (age, qualification, caste, disability if any), and self-attested copies.
5. Provisional selection:
On successful verification, candidates will be provisionally considered for selection in order of merit/reservation, subject to medical fitness.
6. Contract execution:
Selected candidates shall execute apprenticeship contract agreement through https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.

Reservation Details

1. Reservation policy:
Reservation shall be applicable as per Government of India Rules.

Document Requirements

1. Application printout:
Signed printout of online application possessing the unique registration number.
2. Original documents:
Original certificates towards proof of age, qualification, caste, disability (if any), etc.
3. Self-attested copies:
Self-attested copies of all relevant certificates to be produced.
4. Equivalency certificate:
Applicants claiming equivalent qualification must upload an Equivalency Certificate for the designated trade/vocation issued by the competent authority; without it, candidature will not be considered.

Important Instructions

1. No TA/DA:
No travel expenses are admissible for attending certificate verification or during the apprenticeship training period.
2. Boarding/Lodging:
Boarding or lodging will not be provided by CSL during the apprenticeship period.
3. Mode of communication:
Call letters for certificate verification will not be sent by post; candidates will be informed by email/publication on the CSL website and should check frequently.
4. No employment claim:
Mere application/verification does not confer any right to acceptance or employment; CSL has no obligation to offer employment during or after apprenticeship.
5. Verification:
Selection is subject to verification of character and antecedents and verification of caste certificates, if applicable.
6. Jurisdiction:
Any legal proceedings will lie only in Courts/Tribunals/Forums at Ernakulam.
7. Amendments:
Any amendment/modification/addition to the advertisement will be given only on the CSL website.
8. Acceptance of terms:
Submission of application is treated as unconditional acceptance of all terms and conditions of the vacancy notification.
9. Canvassing:
Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.

Training Details

1. Training duration:
One year apprenticeship training as per Apprentices Act, 1961.
2. Ineligibility clause:

Bond or Service Agreement

1. Apprenticeship contract:
Selected candidates must execute an apprenticeship contract agreement through the apprenticeshipindia.gov.in portal.

Disqualification Criteria

1. Incorrect marks entry:
If there is a difference between entered marks and the uploaded mark sheet, the application will be summarily rejected.
2. False information:
If any information is found false/incorrect or facts suppressed, candidature/appointment will be cancelled/rejected without further notice.
3. Incomplete application:
Incomplete applications or failure to upload mandatory documents will result in rejection.
4. Canvassing:
Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.

Other Information

1. Communications:
Queries on documentary evidence/eligibility, if sought by CSL, must be replied only through email to apprenticeship@cochinshipyard.in within the stipulated time.
2. Document retention:
All documents related to this selection shall be preserved for two years from the date of publication of results.
3. Seat fill discretion:
Filling of notified seats is subject to suitability of candidates and availability of training facilities; CSL reserves the right to restrict/alter/cancel/modify the process.
