Selection Process
- 1. Phase-I — Objective Type Offline Test:
- 60 marks, 60 minutes, 60 multiple choice questions: General Awareness 5, English Language 5, Numerical Ability 5, Reasoning Ability 5 and Subject Based 40. Each question carries one mark
- 2. Phase-II:
- Group Discussion, Writing Skills and Personal Interview, 40 marks in total
- 3. Final mark distribution:
- Objective Type Offline Test 60, Group Discussion 10, Writing Skills 10, Personal Interview 20 — total 100 marks
- 4. Minimum pass marks:
- 50% of the total marks of each test for unreserved posts; 40% for SC candidates only for the vacancy reserved for Scheduled Caste
- 5. Shortlisting ratio:
- Candidates scoring the minimum pass marks are shortlisted for certificate verification in the minimum ratio of 6 candidates per post, in order of merit and reservation
- 6. Progression to Phase-II:
- Only those who successfully complete certificate verification attend Phase-II; Phase-II will be conducted even if fewer than the 1:6 ratio remain
- 7. Tie-break:
- Rank is determined by total marks across Phase-I and Phase-II; on a tie, marks in the discipline part of the objective test decide, and thereafter seniority in age

- Admit cards will be issued to eligible candidates prior to the test date.

- 1. Reservation Policy:
- Reservations are applicable as per government norms for SC, ST, OBC, and PwBD categories.
Document Requirements
- 1. Upload before applying:
- Certificates proving age, qualification and caste, a recent passport-size colour photograph and signature must be ready for upload before starting the online application
- 2. Mark sheets:
- Copies of certificates and mark sheets for all relevant educational qualifications, and certificates proving age and caste, must be uploaded as per the portal guidelines, failing which candidature will not be considered
- 3. Declaration for government servants:
- Applicants in regular Government service must upload a declaration as per Annexure I confirming they have informed their employer in writing

Important Instructions
- 1. Call letters:
- Call letters will not be posted; shortlisted candidates will be informed by email or through www.hooghlycsl.com to download them. Candidates should check the Career page frequently
- 2. Travel reimbursement:
- No travelling allowance for the objective type test. SC candidates for the reserved post attending certificate verification are reimbursed single to and fro third AC rail fare by the shortest route, on production of proof and bank details
- 3. Canvassing:
- Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification
- 4. Provisional candidature:
- Candidature is purely provisional and subject to verification of original certificates; false information or suppression of facts leads to cancellation without further notice
- 5. Medical examination:
- Candidates shortlisted for appointment must undergo a medical examination at hospitals prescribed by Hooghly CSL, with fitness verified by its Medical Officer
- 6. Jurisdiction:
- Legal proceedings arising out of this advertisement may be instituted only in the Courts, Tribunals or Forums at Howrah or Kolkata
- 7. Amendments:
- Any change, amendment, modification or addition to this advertisement will be published on the CSL / Hooghly CSL website only
Interview Details
- 1. Interview Process:
- The interview will assess candidates' technical knowledge, communication skills, and suitability for the role.
Bond or Service Agreement
- 1. Service agreement:
- Selected candidates must execute an agreement to serve Hooghly CSL for at least three years after successful completion of training
- 2. Liquidated damages:
- Rs 3 lakhs payable to Hooghly CSL for violation of the service agreement
- 3. Outside employment:
- During training and during the service agreement period, applications for outside employment will not be forwarded and no No Objection Certificate will be issued

- Providing false information or failing to meet eligibility criteria will result in disqualification.
