- The application consists of two phases - one-time registration in the SAP online portal, and submission of the application against the applicable post.
- 3. Application window:
- Applications can be submitted from 06th August, 2025 to 26th August, 2025. Applications submitted direct or by any other mode shall not be accepted.
- 4. One application only:
- Applicants should not submit more than one application. An application once submitted shall be final and changes after final submission will not be considered.
- 5. Uploads required:
- All certificates towards proof of age, educational qualification, experience and caste, and a recent passport size colour photograph, must be uploaded in the SAP online application portal, failing which the candidature shall be rejected.
- 6. Registration number:
- Applicants should retain a soft copy or printout of the online application containing the unique registration number generated by the system, which is issued only on successful submission and must be quoted in any correspondence.

Selection Process
- 1. Overall method:
- Phase I - Objective type offline test of 70 marks (75 minutes duration); Phase II - Descriptive type written test of 30 marks (60 minutes). Total 100 marks.
- 2. Phase-I structure:
- Two parts: Part A General (General Knowledge 5, General English 5, Reasoning 5, Quantitative Aptitude 5) and Part B Discipline related 50. Total 70 questions, each carrying one mark.
- 3. Syllabus:
- Detailed syllabus for Part A and Part B of the Phase-I objective test is at Annexure I; the syllabus is indicative and not exhaustive.
- 4. Merit list:
- Merit lists shall be prepared on the basis of marks secured in the Phase-I objective test. In case of equal marks, marks scored in the discipline part shall determine the order; in case of a further tie, relative merit shall be decided on seniority in age.
- 5. Shortlisting ratio:
- Candidates shall be short-listed in the ratio of 1:6 for certificate verification against each post. Hooghly CSL reserves the right to fix minimum pass marks in Phase I, in which case the ratio may be less than 1:6.
- 6. Progression to Phase II:
- Only those candidates who successfully complete the certificate verification shall be allowed to attend the Phase-II descriptive type written test.
- 7. Final merit list:
- A final merit list shall be prepared based on marks secured in both Phase I and Phase II put together. Hooghly CSL reserves the right to fix minimum pass marks for Phase II and for final selection at its sole discretion.
- 8. Travel reimbursement:
- No travelling allowance is paid for the objective type test. SC/ST candidates attending certificate verification and selection tests at Hooghly CSL shall be reimbursed single to-and-fro sleeper class rail/bus fare by the shortest route, on production of proof and bank details.

How to Apply
- 1. Read first:

- 2. Two phases:
- The application consists of two phases - one-time registration in the SAP online portal, and submission of the application against the applicable post.
- 3. Application window:
- Applications can be submitted from 06th August, 2025 to 26th August, 2025. Applications submitted direct or by any other mode shall not be accepted.
- 4. One application only:
- Applicants should not submit more than one application. An application once submitted shall be final and changes after final submission will not be considered.
- 5. Uploads required:
- All certificates towards proof of age, educational qualification, experience and caste, and a recent passport size colour photograph, must be uploaded in the SAP online application portal, failing which the candidature shall be rejected.
- 6. Registration number:
- Applicants should retain a soft copy or printout of the online application containing the unique registration number generated by the system, which is issued only on successful submission and must be quoted in any correspondence.
- 7. Nothing by post:
- Applicants need not send the online application printout, certificates, or application fee by DD/Challan/Cheque by post to Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited.
- 8. Apply early:
- Those who apply on the last date may not get troubleshooting assistance or technical support in the online application portal by email or phone after 1600 hrs on the last date.
Exam Pattern
- 1. Phase I:
- Objective Type Test consisting of 70 marks.
- 2. Phase II:
- Descriptive Written Test consisting of 30 marks, duration 60 minutes.

Selection Process
- 1. Overall method:
- Phase I - Objective type offline test of 70 marks (75 minutes duration); Phase II - Descriptive type written test of 30 marks (60 minutes). Total 100 marks.
- 2. Phase-I structure:
- Two parts: Part A General (General Knowledge 5, General English 5, Reasoning 5, Quantitative Aptitude 5) and Part B Discipline related 50. Total 70 questions, each carrying one mark.
- 3. Syllabus:
- Detailed syllabus for Part A and Part B of the Phase-I objective test is at Annexure I; the syllabus is indicative and not exhaustive.
- 4. Merit list:
- Merit lists shall be prepared on the basis of marks secured in the Phase-I objective test. In case of equal marks, marks scored in the discipline part shall determine the order; in case of a further tie, relative merit shall be decided on seniority in age.
- 5. Shortlisting ratio:
- Candidates shall be short-listed in the ratio of 1:6 for certificate verification against each post. Hooghly CSL reserves the right to fix minimum pass marks in Phase I, in which case the ratio may be less than 1:6.
- 6. Progression to Phase II:
- Only those candidates who successfully complete the certificate verification shall be allowed to attend the Phase-II descriptive type written test.
- 7. Final merit list:
- A final merit list shall be prepared based on marks secured in both Phase I and Phase II put together. Hooghly CSL reserves the right to fix minimum pass marks for Phase II and for final selection at its sole discretion.
- 8. Travel reimbursement:
- No travelling allowance is paid for the objective type test. SC/ST candidates attending certificate verification and selection tests at Hooghly CSL shall be reimbursed single to-and-fro sleeper class rail/bus fare by the shortest route, on production of proof and bank details.

- Candidates should bring two copies of the call letter and a valid photo ID to the selection test venue.

- Reservations are applicable as per government norms for SC, ST, OBC, and PwBD categories.

- Selected candidates will undergo a training program to familiarize them with shipyard operations and safety protocols.
Disqualification Criteria
- 1. False information:
- If at any stage it is found that information furnished by the candidate is false or incorrect, the candidate shall not be considered for selection and the candidature will be cancelled or rejected without further notice.
- 2. Incomplete applications:
- Incomplete applications, withdrawn applications and applications in draft status shall not be considered.

- 1. Probation Terms:
- Selected candidates will be on probation for a period of one year, during which their performance will be evaluated.
