Job Details

Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), Malpe, invites Indian citizens to apply online for Supervisor (Mechanical) on a 5-year contract. The role involves supervising mechanical/hull/fabrication/piping/quality control functions in a shipbuilding/ship repair/engineering environment, including on-board ship assignments as required. Eligible candidates must have either a three-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least seven years’ post-qualification experience (including two years in a supervisory capacity) or an ITI (NTC) in specified trades with at least fifteen years’ post-qualification experience (including three years supervisory) in relevant industries. Exam Pattern

1. Phase I – Objective test:

2. Phase I – Descriptive test:
90 minutes; 40 marks; discipline-related questions.
3. Minimum pass marks:
UR: 50% in each test; OBC: 45% in each test (only for OBC-reserved vacancies); SC/ST: 40% in each test (only for SC/ST-reserved vacancies).

Syllabus Details

Selection Process

1. Phase I – Written test:
Objective (40 marks) and Descriptive (40 marks); descriptive answers evaluated only for those who secure minimum pass marks in the objective test and meet eligibility.
2. Shortlisting & verification:
Candidates scoring minimum pass marks are shortlisted for certificate verification; sufficient numbers are called to maintain a ratio of 6 candidates per post.
3. Phase II – PowerPoint presentation:
20 marks; up to 10 minutes highlighting work experience; held at UCSL Malpe, electronically, or as decided by UCSL.
4. Final merit:
Based on total marks of Phase I & II; tie-breaker: objective test marks, then seniority in age.
5. Exam centre:
Objective test may be conducted at UCSL Malpe or any other centre as decided by UCSL.
